Internet disconnects when downloading large files optimum router

It happened to just disconnect me recently and used the troubleshooter and it said that it couldn't connect to the DNS server. So I'm not really sure what needs to happen for this to not be an issue any longer. Crazy how upgrading a router actually causes problems.

What is the load you are putting on the router? SIze of file? Streaming or copying? Is this wired and wireless or wired only? Could you use a switch between your two devices and have it take on the load?

My isp gives me mb download and 20mb upload so not a bandwidth thing when I download a large file on a wired connection all my wireless devices lose connection and come back when it's finished.

Message 10 of Message 11 of Ive fixed mine runs great now. I found that it was a dodgy cable even though it said cat 5e it for some reason took out the entire system.

It was connected to a powerline adaptor as well don't know if you have any of those in the system. Took me a little time but I sat with my router and plugged each one it at a time to narrow down which part was causing and issue then went through everything plugging in one cable at at a time until I found out which one it was.
